I have specialized training in working with pregnant and postpartum women. Pregnancy does not protect a woman from having depression, anxiety, or other symptoms. For some women, it can be a recurrence or worsening of symptoms. For others, it can be their first experience of depression, anxiety, or other symptoms. Either way, I understand that the frustration of not being able to enjoy what should be an exciting time in your life. I also understand that women and their partners have many questions about the course of the symptoms and about treatment.
Services
I offer several services to pregnant and postpartum women.Often, people ask if they should bring their significant others to appointments. It is up to you. Some women prefer to have their partner present for the entire initial evaluation. Others come by themselves. What I find often works well is to do the majority of the evaluation/interview with just the client and then have the partner come in when discussing treatment options, but again, the decision is up to you. Also, you are welcome to bring infants to appointments.
It is also important to keep in touch with your obstetrician and future pediatrician. If you give me their contact information, as well as consent, I can liaise with them to ensure your other medical providers are aware of our plans.
